Alcohol Licensing, VAT & Compliance
Southwest Spirits is a UK-based alcohol retailer operating under the appropriate licensing requirements to sell and dispatch alcoholic beverages within the United Kingdom. This page outlines our approach to licensing, VAT, eBay permissions, and delivery compliance.
Alcohol Licensing
Southwest Spirits holds the required UK alcohol licence to sell alcohol to consumers. All alcohol sold through our service is duty-paid and sold in accordance with UK alcohol licensing law.
Private individuals using our service do not need to hold an alcohol licence themselves, as Southwest Spirits acts as the licensed seller of record.
eBay Alcohol Permissions
Southwest Spirits is approved by eBay to sell alcohol products within the wine, beer, and spirits categories. All alcohol listings are sold under our permitted seller account and comply with eBay’s alcohol and fulfilment policies.
Alcohol sales are restricted to UK buyers only. International shipping and global shipping options are not offered.
Storage & Dispatch
All bottles are physically held at our licensed UK premises prior to sale. Items are securely stored, packed, and dispatched by Southwest Spirits following purchase.
This service operates as a consignment retail model and is not dropshipping.
Age Verification
Alcohol deliveries are sent using age-verified delivery services in line with UK legal requirements. Buyers must be at least 18 years old to purchase alcohol.
VAT Treatment
Southwest Spirits is VAT registered. When acting as an agent, VAT is charged on our commission only and not on the full sale price of the bottle. All stated commission rates are inclusive of VAT.
Record Keeping & Transparency
Sellers receive a clear sales statement following each completed sale, showing the sale price, commission, and net amount they will be paid. Records are maintained in line with UK accounting and compliance requirements.
